Meditation and hypnosis enable us to heal by getting out of the conscious mind and to tap the unlimited existing within us, offering a return back to our true nature.
There are many ways to achieve states, that activate our parasympathetic nervous system being restorative, and offer healing.
Utilizing meditation or hypnosis we can bypass the conscious mind and enter into more of an alpha or “flow state” which is the opposite of beta (fight or flight). As we drop down into alpha, theta and even delta states we can establish communication unconsciously and even reach states of super-consciousness.
In these states we find the resources and solutions to assist us on our healing pathway, the insight and wisdom as we open. All healing is self-healing. We may have a guide who can assist us in teaching how to tap our own personal power, to be our own healer and how to get in touch with and release trauma from our body / mind.
Generally, hypnosis is used for a specific therapeutic outcome, it maybe for a habit i.e. to stop smoking or alcohol reduction or for medical purposes i.e. migraines, anxiety, depression etc the applications of hypnotherapy are vast!
Meditation is used for experience of the self, to become anchored in one’s own self / soul, or depending on what tradition it maybe used to commune with the divine. There are many effective forms of meditation taught by various traditions from around the world. It maybe beneficial to choose one that you feel a resonance with and that speaks to you.
The most important thing is consistency of practice. Everything is hard before it becomes easy. The journey may start bitter although soon becomes sweet as one drinks the nectar arising from deep mediation. As one becomes consistent, it makes it so much easier to drop into those deep informative states. Creating a special place in your home used for your own personal practice can be rewarding.
Witnessing and becoming aware of the breath is an effective form of meditation allowing all the systems of the body and mind to slow down. Gradually we can begin to strengthen and be the witness of our own thoughts, just watching the clouds of thoughts pass by although not identifying with them, just as the sun continues to shines whether there are clouds of thoughts or not.
Meditation and hypnosis when done consistently can assist is re rewiring our brain, to achieve self-realization, enjoy a completely different response to our environment and to facilitate neural plasticity. It is a pathway to peace, joy, healing and wholeness.
